Chapter One Hundred Eighty-Eight: Yuanji Suppresses — Earth Veins Lock the Fiends

As Xiwei attacked from above, Yuanji struck from below. The dark spirit, which had always preferred stillness to violence, now rose through the Earth Veins with a terrible, quiet purpose. It did not blaze like Xiwei — Yuanji could not blaze. But it could pressure, could weight, could apply the crushing stillness of the deep earth to the Chaos remnants that sought to rise.

Yuanji wrapped itself around the subterranean channels through which the remnants were flowing. Its darkness merged with the darkness of the fiends — not joining them, but smothering them, pressing down on them with the patient, inexorable weight of the entire earth. The remnants that had been surging upward found themselves trapped, compressed, slowly crushed by a force that did not strike but simply did not yield.

The Earth Veins, which had been Pangu's sinews and were now the world's energy channels, responded to Yuanji's call. They constricted around the Chaos remnants like a living net, channeling spirit qi into the points of infestation, using the world's own life-force to neutralize the anti-life that had invaded it.

Xiwei burned from above; Yuanji pressed from below. Between them, the Chaos remnants found themselves caught in a pincer from which there was no escape. The two spirits — light and dark, fire and earth, Yang and Yin — had become the perfect weapons against Chaos, each attacking from the direction the other could not reach.

Yuanji suppresses, Earth Veins lock the fiends. The world's defenses, built into its very structure by the creator, were now activated by its guardians.
