Chapter One Hundred Fifty-Eight: Eve of Transformation — Looking Back Across Eternal Ages
Volume Four: The Dao Gives Rise to Myriad Things — Life First Sprouts
As his consciousness prepared for its final dissolution, Pangu looked back one last time across the sweep of his existence. He saw it all — not as a linear sequence of events, but as a single, unified whole.
He saw himself as a spark of awareness in the primordial Chaos — the first consciousness ever to exist, alone in an endless sea of formless potential. He saw the long ages of growth, the battles with Mingdun, the slow accumulation of strength that would one day crack the Chaos Egg. He saw the moment of world-opening — that blinding flash when clear and turbid first parted, when Heaven and Earth first came into being. He saw the eighteen thousand years of standing, hands pressed against the sky, feet planted in the earth, growing with the world he had made.
He saw the first plants, the first creatures, the first stirrings of spirit-intelligence. He saw Xiwei and Yuanji — his children, his legacy, the future of all he had built. He saw the Savage Fiends and the wars fought to contain them. He saw the world recovering, healing, growing stronger.
And now he saw the end. Not an ending of darkness, but an ending of light — his light, spreading outward into everything, becoming everything. The final act of creation was not building but becoming: the creator dissolving into the created, the self expanding to encompass all.
Eve of transformation, looking back across Eternal Ages. Pangu had no regrets. He had lived exactly the life he was meant to live. And now, at the end of all things, he was ready to become all things.
