Chapter One Hundred Forty-Nine: Heaven and Earth Return to Peace — Order Restored

Volume Four: The Dao Gives Rise to Myriad Things — Life First Sprouts

Peace returned to Heaven and Earth. The last great surge of the Savage Fiends had been contained, and the world breathed freely once more. The skies cleared; the waters ran clean; the green spread across the land with renewed vigor.

Pangu walked across the healed earth. Where there had been black fissures, wildflowers now grew — simple things, tiny petals of white and yellow, but flowers nonetheless. Where the miasma had poisoned the soil, new moss now covered the scars like green bandages over old wounds. The world was healing.

Xiwei's light seemed brighter now, as if the long war had tempered it into something purer. Yuanji's presence seemed deeper, as if the struggle had given it new purpose. The two spirits had come into their own during the crisis, transforming from children into guardians, from passive presences into active defenders of their world.

And Pangu? Pangu was nearly gone. His body was translucent now, his form more suggestion than substance. He could feel the last of his Primordial Source ebbing away with each passing day. But he was at peace. The world he had built had faced its greatest threat and survived. It no longer needed him to hold it together. It could stand on its own.

Heaven and Earth returning to peace, order restored. Pangu stood on a hillside in the last light of evening and watched the stars come out, one by one, across the sky he had raised with his own hands. The world was complete. His work was done.
