Chapter One Hundred Forty-One: Savage Fiends Break Through — Heaven and Earth Tremble

Volume Four: The Dao Gives Rise to Myriad Things — Life First Sprouts

The Savage Fiends erupted. Across the world, black fissures split open in the earth like wounds tearing through living flesh. From those fissures, black viscous matter oozed and spread — the concentrated essence of turbid qi mutated beyond recognition, carrying a virulence that killed every living thing it touched.

The first eruption came from the eastern plains. Pangu felt the ground beneath his feet convulse, and in the distance, a column of black miasma shot skyward, blotting out the light of Xiwei. The grasses and mosses that had only just begun to cover the land withered instantly, turning from green to brown to black in the span of heartbeats.

Pangu moved. Though his body was fading, though his Primordial Source was nearly spent, he still moved with the speed of one who had once grappled with the primordial Chaos itself. He reached the eastern fissure and pressed his palms against the trembling earth. Golden light — the last reserves of his will made visible — poured from his hands into the ground.

The light met the rising black miasma and the two forces clashed in silence. There was no thunder, no explosion — only a contest of pure essences: order against chaos, life against extinction. Pangu's golden light pushed the miasma back, sealing the fissure inch by inch. But the effort cost him. When he lifted his hands, the lines of his palms had grown fainter still, and his breathing was ragged.

He did not have time to rest. Even as the eastern fissure sealed, two more erupted — one in the south, one in the west. The Savage Fiends attacked from multiple fronts, forcing Pangu to divide his fading strength across the entire world. He fought with everything he had left, and the world trembled with every blow.
