Chapter Eleven: The Spirit Embryo Gestates Anew, Slumber Deepens Further
Volume One: The Chaos Egg — An Eternity of Slumber
Pangu withdrew the greater part of his externally extended consciousness. He no longer sparred with Mingdun, no longer explored the structures of Chaos, no longer rehearsed the principles within the numbers. He condensed all these staged gains into a single intent and sank into the deepest reaches of his own consciousness.
It was an active, comprehensive withdrawal — like a tree drawing its nutrients back from branch and leaf into its roots when winter arrives. His outer perceptual surface grew ever thinner, ever sparser, until at last only the most basal layer remained — just enough to sense whether Mingdun was launching a lethal attack. Beyond that, he poured every scrap of energy he could recall into his core.
Within that core, the Spirit Embryo was taking shape. He was no longer that indistinct blur of light-mist he had once been. His core had grown solid and dense, like a seed compressed under immense pressure. Inside that seed, something was changing — a profound transformation. Pangu sank into the deepest reaches of his self, no longer concerned with what happened outside. Mingdun still prowled the vicinity, still sought an angle of attack, but none of that mattered. He had something more urgent than battle — he had to complete the metamorphosis from Spirit Embryo to Innate Deity.
After discovering the rhythm of the Ninefold Transformation, Pangu made a crucial decision — he would fully submerge himself in that rhythm, no longer fighting it, but yielding to it. Under the threat of Mingdun and the Force of Annihilation, he chose to make himself deeper, quieter, and he withdrew himself from the outer layers where he had sparred with Mingdun back into the depths of his core, and there he let the rhythm of the Ninefold Transformation take full command of his body's operations. Through this process, his external perception grew ever duller and sparser; Mingdun's movements no longer imprinted clearly on his consciousness — but none of that mattered. In that deep slumber, he was completing the metamorphosis from Spirit Embryo to Innate Deity.
At the moment his shell was at its hardest, Pangu actively began a deeper exploration — an inward probe toward his own core. He withdrew his perception from shell and outer world and plunged into the interior of his core. There, he found a subtle activity he had never before noticed — something like a seed just beginning to sprout, its surface still wrapped in a thin film of light. He perceived that beneath that light-film, something supremely pure was gestating — his future divine body, a nascent form slowly taking shape in the deepest recesses of the Spirit Embryo.
In his deep slumber, Pangu perceived that his core was undergoing a qualitative transformation. The originally loose and scattered primordial Chaos Qi, under the action of the Ninefold Transformation, was being compressed and reorganized into a denser structure. His Spirit Embryo, in that compression, grew smaller and more compact, shrinking from a diffuse cloud of vapor into a condensed point of light. Though that point had shrunk, the energy density it contained was now many times greater than before. In that compression, he felt a fullness unlike any he had known — an inner repletion arising naturally from the metamorphosis from looseness to condensation.
In his deep slumber, Pangu sank his consciousness to a place deeper than ever before — so deep he could barely sense the outside world. His core, in that deep slumber, underwent a subtle shift — the originally dense structure developed some extraordinarily fine voids, and those voids began to fill with a substance that had never before existed. That substance was neither as viscous as Chaos Qi nor as thin as primordial qi; it was a semi-fluid hovering between the two. It flowed slowly through the voids, and with each circuit it grew a measure more solid. His Spirit Embryo, filled with that new substance, was undergoing a qualitative metamorphosis — transforming from a pure energy-body toward a half-energy, half-material body. It was the embryo of his future form, no more than a fetus quietly taking shape in deep slumber.
In his core's metamorphosis, Pangu realized that his Spirit Embryo was no longer the loose light-mist it had once been. At the limit of density, it had found the key to stable structure — spontaneous condensation through internal crystallization. Under intense pressure, the substances within his core were spontaneously arranging themselves into an ordered structure, like water turning to ice at low temperature. It was a self-organization that arose naturally under the right conditions. In that process of self-organization, he glimpsed the future operating principle of the entire cosmos — let things spontaneously form structures under suitable conditions.
In its final micro-contraction, the Spirit Embryo within the core reached its most compact state — a plenitude and fullness born of natural saturation. The embryo was now less than a tenth of its original size, yet the energy density it contained was dozens of times greater than before. Its surface was etched with the finest, densest lines — those lines were regularly arranged energy channels. The precursors of the future cosmic circulatory cycles of Heaven and Earth were already transporting supremely refined innate primordial qi through those energy channels. In the formation of those lines, Pangu saw a future circulatory structure — an entirely new cycle of order he would establish in the new world.
The last layer of the Spirit Embryo's shell within the core sloughed away, revealing the fully formed new body within. That body was fundamentally different from the old — composed of a translucent substance Pangu had never seen, a stable state between solid and liquid, between energy and matter. A faint golden luster flowed across its surface. Its interior held no organs — it was driven directly by energy. In that new body, Pangu felt astonishing lightness — more efficient than before. Every energy-flow pathway was the shortest possible; the utilization rate of every wisp of energy was one hundred percent.
In the shaping of that new body, he confirmed that his metamorphosis was fully complete. He slowly extended his perception outward from within his core — Mingdun still prowled in the distance, unaware of what had changed within. Pangu did not rush to display his new form. He simply waited quietly within his shell, letting his body fully acclimate to this entirely new state of being. His fists slowly clenched and unclenched before his chest — though the five fingers were not yet visible, the basic outline of hands was already present. In that clenching motion, he felt for the first time power surging from within his body — in that power, he confirmed one thing: he was ready.
After his new body had fully stabilized, Pangu slowly extended his perception outward. Mingdun was still prowling in the distance, like a mist that had lost its target, finding no angle of attack and daring not to draw recklessly near. Watching that being that had once terrified him so, a strange feeling rose in Pangu's heart — Mingdun was the first existence he had encountered after his birth; their struggle had shaped his entire course of growth. Now he was about to complete his metamorphosis, while Mingdun remained trapped in its original form, forever unable to comprehend what he was about to become. The gap between them had grown so vast that Mingdun could not even perceive his current level — Mingdun's perception remained fixed on the 'Pangu who could be attacked', while the true Pangu had become an existence beyond the reach of its senses. In that moment, Pangu understood: true transcendence means your opponent can no longer reach you.
